Ferrellgas is seeking a DOT Manager of Safety to join the team. This position acts as the primary advisor to the Director of Safety on all Region Safety Manager roles and responsibilities, along with all operational, safety, and technical issues. In addition, the position is responsible for providing input on DOT safety policies and procedures, collecting safety data for safety compliance, providing publications and communications to the company on safety and regulatory compliance. This role typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ related experience. DOT safety compliance and regulating experience cross multi-states is required. Occasional travel is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, train and directs all Region Safety Managers. 
  • Ensures the execution of each region's DOT safety review procedures at the retail facilities. Subject Matter Expert on overall safety metrics (including TRIR, LWC, AVIs, Scorecard, etc.)
  • Ensures company’s retail division operating policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable DOT safety regulations.
  • Collaborates with Policy Manager and Safety Systems Manager in maintaining and updating the Service Center Checklist program data.
  • Works with the Manager of Safety and Technical Training to maintain all training program data and processes.  
  • Works with safety manager for the tank exchange division in development and implementation of PSM and RMP programs for our tank production, FNA throughput facilities, and all other applicable facilities.
  • Reviews publications by other departments for meeting company and industry safety and technical standards. Includes Safety Data Sheets (SDS) AND Safety and Technical Handbook updates and review.
  • Analyzes and reviews safety information to identify areas of focus.
  • Oversees the Emergency Assistance Committee program.
  • Develops and implements targeted programs to improve overall safety metrics and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 5+ years related experience.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and execute training plans that support safety and prevention improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing programs to improve safety metrics.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
