Overview

This is a leadership role will have oversight over the entire Fleet department and responsible for supervising Fleet team members. The Director of Fleet Logistics is responsible for performing research and analytical work for the Fleet Logistics Department, particularly in the areas of cost management, vehicle replacement schedules, performance benchmarking, action plan tracking, and staffing requirements. This role is responsible in leading fleet analysis and special studies to implement quality service and operational fleet improvements. Assignments are comprehensive and complex, and require substantial research, analysis, and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees Ferrellgas’ extensive fleet operation and health of more than 4,000 units
  • Responsible for the analysis and development of productivity measurements.
  • Determines fleet performance standards by tracking and trending vehicle allocation data and conducting operations and vehicle fleet cost and usage rate analysis.
  • Designs, implements, evaluates, and utilizes management reports from fleet information management system to prepare recommendations to improve workload balancing and increase process efficiencies.
  • Creates and implements key fleet policies promoting alternative fuel use and other “green” initiatives.
  • Develops and conforms key metrics for the operation including cost reduction targets, year over year standard cost control, and internal customer satisfaction measures.
  • Identifies and selects the most appropriate and cost-effective transportation.
  • Initiates vehicle purchases.
  • Coordinates schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company’s fleet.
  • Coordinates with Quality, Logistics and Demand Planning functions to ensure smooth overall operation of the vehicle supply chain which balances inventory, quality, and risk.
  • Continuously analyzes fleet maintenance data with the goal of reducing fleet maintenance costs, providing reports to upper management around company metric as to efficiencies gained on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on the build process of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, as well as other vehicles to ensure best overall purchase.
  • Responsible for overseeing Ferrellgas’ telematics system and other fleet systems for Ferrellgas vehicles.
  • Creates and implements plan to integrate new fleet from acquisitions into current fleet.
  • Works cross functionally with Risk and Safety departments as well as other departments.
  • Responsible for building and developing a team of professionals that serve internal and external customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • 5+ years of fleet management experience with proven track record of success.
  • Prior experience in vehicle purchasing and registration process.
  • Working knowledge of the vehicle manufacturing process from start to finish.
  • Prior experience working in Fleet Management Programs
  • Experience with DOT program management and working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA regulations required.
  • Broad knowledge of negotiation strategy, inventory control and vehicle manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstration of strong leadership and program management skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and good analytical skills, with specific experience presenting information to executive leadership.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
